GuildsThe farming community, mostly retired soldiers, have formed into a collective called Growers Division. They also make decisions about the running of the city, and oversee the City Watch . The Artificers Guild comprises tinkerers, smiths, herbalists and alchemists, and they form the other major faction in Auschental. The Abbey of the Allseeing is the seat of the state religion. Also, a group of armed artificers called New Dawn have been operating outside the city.
HistoryThe mid-sized city is established, but still relatively young, many of its founders are still alive, and there is optimism for its future. Much of the time since settlement has been spent getting supply chains, buildings and governance established, and the people are largely ignorant of what goes on outside city limits. A rat plague has been spreading through the city, and City Watch haven’t been able to do much to stop it.

TypeCity

Auschental is a young iron age city, built on defensible hilly land on a large peninsula.

  • This is an iron age civilisation, with some gunpowder and various forms of alchemy.
  • There is no mechanised transport, nor any horses available. Oxen and donkeys are sometimes used for pulling loads and ploughing, but they are not widely available.
  • On the water there are sailing ships, most of which are small fishing vessels.
  • The currency is Auschenguilders or guilders, and prices and availability generally match medieval equipment in SWADE page 67 onward.
